I’m a fairly intelligent woman for the most part, but I am naive. I can be “punny” on topics I know about. Not having grown up with brothers and meeting my husband (a gentleman) at age 19, there are a lot of NSFW things I haven’t been exposed to. This puts me at a disadvantage.
I seem to have a knack for unintentionally making inappropriate innuendos. Sometimes they are things I wish I could take back, and sometimes they end up being funny stories I look back on and laugh at for years.
Innuendo (noun): An indirect or subtle comment that gives someone the wrong idea.
While gabbing with family this holiday weekend, I remembered a funny foot-in-my-mouth moment that made me laugh and blush…
As I was pulling out of the driveway on my way to work last summer I noticed a flower on the sidewalk that the dog had stepped on and broken off. I picked it up and brought it to work to put on my desk. By Friday it had opened up and was absolutely beautiful. As I was walking out the door for the weekend I said to the people who work around me, “If anyone wants my flower, you can have it. It’s not going to last the weekend.” The ripples of laughter started slowly and like dominoes, the guys around me were laughing hysterically.
I seem to frequently be the last one to get the joke, but that’s okay. I’m embracing my naiveté and enjoying the laughter.
