I wrote this review about the FitBit One earlier this summer, and how it helped me get motivated to exercise! Seriously, I was climbing flights of stairs and pacing around the house before bed if I was close to reaching my next goal!
As much as I loved the Fitbit One, I really wished it was waterproof. I ended up getting a used FitBit Flex from a friend who did the BlogHer 5k with me and I gave my FitBit One to my husband.
It totally figures, that the week I upgraded to the Fitbit Flex, they came out with the FitBit Force. This gadget girl had immediate electronic envy. I soo wanted it, but had already bought the Flex and knew the upgrade would be a frivolous purchase, especially considering my diet vs debt pay off showdown that I blogged about last week. It all worked out and I love the FitBit Flex.
My husband called, super disappointed last week, that he lost the Fitbit One, so I tucked it in the back of my mind to get him one for Christmas.
A friend I work with saw a Fitbit Force deal on FatWallet* and tipped me off to it today.
At first I was super tempted to get the Fitbit Force for myself and give my husband the Fitbit Flex, but I was a good girl. I debated getting the Fitbit Force for my husband instead of the Fitbit Flex, but the Difference between the Flex and the Force doesn’t seem that great for the $30 extra the Force costs. The Force has two extra features; it tracks floors climbed and displays a time.
Features of Fitbit Activity & Sleep Trackers
|Tracks Very Active Minutes||Yes||Yes||Yes|
|Tracks Floors Climbed||Yes||–||Yes|
|Wirelessly Syncs to App/Computer||Yes||Yes||Yes|
|Wearability||Clips to clothing||Bracelet
Both devices wirelessly sync to my phone with the Fitbit App or computer with the wireless dongle. (That word always makes me laugh!)
Fitbit tracks how number of steps, calories burned, distance walked and minutes of activity. It awards me badges when I hit new levels of activity. (Yea, like a “caught being good sticker” and the Bravo star stickers I get at Weight Watchers.–It’s the little things that motivate me, people!)
The Fitbit also adds a little incentive to compete with my friends who are part of the Fitbit community, pushing me to do more than I would do on my own. I could also track how much sleep I get and the quality of my sleep too, if I’d only remember to put it into sleep mode each night. I also LOVE the silent vibrating alarm!
Merry Christmas, Wes! :)
Posting this will ruin the surprise, but I suck at keeping secrets from him anyway.
(Honey, if you are reading this, may I have the Aria Wi-Fi Scale from FitBit for Christmas please?! ***Note to men: Proceed With Extreme Caution! This is not a safe gift for your woman unless she asks for one!)
In the end, I got my husband the Fitbit Flex for Christmas, saving $25 on it and earning approximately $4.35 Cash Back from FatWallet on the Brookstone purchase, and $0.50 Cash Back from the Living Social one. (To all my budget accountability friends: Yes it came from my Christmas savings!)
I could have saved five extra bucks if I had remembered to stack the 20% off Living Social Coupon on top of the Living Social Brookstone deal. (I started a support group for stupid coupon shoppers, since I have been known to do this before! Hahaha!) Oh Well, $29.85 saved is still pretty great.
For my “new to FatWallet” friends, I’ve shared screen shots below on how to do the deal. It will work on all three Fitbit devices.
Let me know if you have any questions, and please be sure to friend me on Fitbit when you get yours so we can challenge and encourage each other!!!
