Money worries can be all consuming, lurking in the back of your mind throughout the night, robbing you of sleep and adding stress to your already stressful life throughout the day. It’s always there, a constant pit in your stomach, reminding you of the problem. You may be afraid to open the bills or answer the phone, so you live like a prisoner, the more you try not to think about it the more worried you get.
My husband has a great analogy he reminds me of when I’m worried about money. Personal finance is like a game of Chutes and Ladders. We keep plugging along—working, saving, paying bills—moving forward on the great big game-board of life. Sometimes we land on a ladder, which gives us a boost and moves us forward in the game; a bonus, gift, tax refund, winning the lottery (haha!). But sometimes we land on a chute which sends us backwards; medical bills, car repairs, job loss, taxes, etc.
Simple Abundance 12: There is No Scarcity
When money surprises and mistakes send us backwards, it’s so easy to feel discouraged and stressed out. We can combat these feelings by realizing that, as Sarah Ban Breathnach reminds us, “abundance is our spiritual birthright…the simpler we make our lives the more abundant they become.”
When money worries overwhelm me, I try to focus on what’s good, and remind myself that right now, in the present, everything is okay. Our family is safe, healthy, warm, and loved, and really, nothing else beyond that matters.
Money is just a tool. We can be happy without it. We are worthy of abundance. There are both ladders and chutes in this money-game, and our next move may bring us to another ladder, as long as we keep stepping out there and playing full out! Expect good things to happen today.
How do you rid yourself of money worries?

I'm Heather, wife, mom of 3, social media director, and small business marketing consultant. Do you love who you are but know you can be and do better? Me too! That's what this blog will be

Hi Heather, long time no talk or type to!! How are you. What a lovely post “Glow in the Dark” make me smile too. Then when you said Benjamin Moore makes it, my wheels started turning. My son loves Glow in the Dark too. I just bought him a Penny Board … and for a suprise, I ordered glow in the dark with green wheels..(custom) LOL.
You know, the money worry thing… oh yes… I used to be really bad with that. Even now I can find myself falling back into old patterns when an unexpected bill arrives. You’d think we’d know after all these years that things always work out… as you say… just keep moving forward and things always, ALWAYS keep moving.
It is a nice reminder. I loved this post and I’m loving this blog. I haven’t blogged since the summer. I have been training for my hypnotherapy certification. I’m starting blogging again in about two weeks. going to give my blog a renovation.
Lovely to talk ‘to’ you… maybe one of these days we can actually verbally chat as we have threatened before.

So good to hear from you, Jayne! I’ve missed you and “the gang” from Clever Marketer. I’m sure your son loved his glow in the dark skateboard! My son’s just about to enter that age of bikes, skate boards, etc. and it will be so much fun. I’m excited.
What have you been up to? I think the hypnotherapy certification is awesome! Good for you! Are you coaching still?
Let’s definitely catch up! I’ve missed you!
Thanks for the comment! I was so thrilled to see your name pop up in my inbox!

Hello Heather! Lovely to hear back. I have certainly missed you too. Haven’t seen much of the ‘whole’ old crowd. I think there have been a few people changing direction this year. Olivers company stopped business in Germany so he was quite set back for a while. I am sure he is onto something new… but with that said, I think I will check on him soon. Marcus Baker has disappeared… :-( nobody knows his whereabouts. Mavis isn’t quite as frequent on my timeline. Seems to be a few of us.
I am still coaching… and that’s what makes the hypnotherapy so exciting to me. Despite the fact I have always been interested in the powers of the subconscious mind… I think it will fit right in with what I like to do which is empower! I have found so many of the people I work with have blocks in their way and I thought this would be fantastic to help undo some of these things. I am also going local which really excites me and my guest house will eventually become my practice!
I still market my business but haven’t focused much on it. Have done ‘ok-ish’ at times mind you. I took a little break in the summer on purpose and found it really did me the world of good and funnily things didn’t suffer.
The light bulb moment for my slight change of direction happened while I was away one weekend at the Spa with my girlfriend. It just hit me… and I so feel this was the shift I was waiting for.
Lets try to skype one day… that is when you get a day off. It’d be lovely to exchange chit chat as to what has been going on.
Take care Heather! xo
